South Sudan – Malnourished child arm size measurements being taken at stabilization centers for mothers and children



Kissito’s project was accepted into the consolidated appeal of the United Nations Office of Coordinated Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) to provide life saving emergency nutrition services and local healthcare capacity strengthening for malnourished mothers and children in the state Jonglei of South Sudan.

The project is being funded jointly by UNOCHA and Plan International. In collaboration with Plan International, KHI will Taking Malnourished Child Arm Size Measurementsdo the following:

  • Perform rapid assessments
  • Establish stabilization centers for mothers and children
  • Establish outpatient therapeutic programs
  • Provide supplementary feeding programs
  • Provide community outreach and education
  • Build capacity of local health workers
  • Improve health management information systems
  • Coordinate with local partners and government health services
