“Mr. Daniel N. Wright, 63 years old, is well known throughout the Roanoke area as an avid runner who completed 19 marathons (26.2 miles each) before being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig ’s disease) in 2006. He went into respiratory failure in September 2007 and has chosen since then to live with a ventilator and a feeding tube rather than give up.”
